Yeah, I don’t think I’d waltz down main street in Tehran with my pride wear on. I wish the gov’t could protect everyone everywhere. We have enough trouble protecting our own citizens right here in the US — like Matthew Sheppard. Never mind Iran, let’s start with Wyoming.

Thanks for this! I shared it on my Facebook page, and someone asked a good question: “I don’t think anyone short of Superman could guarantee someone’s safety visiting Saudi Arabia/Iran and being openly gay… is being accompanied to dangerous countries by Superman a federal benefit?” Ha. But I guess the question is, Is there a federal benefit that protects spouses of other protected classes outside the country — like Jews in Syria or Turkish-Americans in Armenia?
